March 20, 2006 Killers Subject to Supervision
It was revealed today that four members of the the six man gang which kidnapped, raped, tortured and murdered 16-year-old Mary-Ann Leneghan in Reading were subject to probation supervision in London at the time of the murder.
The news, which was revealed at the close of the men's trial at Reading Crown Court, comes soon after the publication of the report into the murder of John Monckton by HM Inspectorate of Probation. It will inevitably increase the pressure on the Probation Service, and Home Secretary Charles Clarke has already expressed his deep concerns over the assessment and risk management of offenders in the community
